Tell CCPIB: Don't Invest In Kinder Morgan
News just broke that Kinder Morgan is short on cash, and desperately looking for investors to back their Trans Mountain project — a dirty tarsands pipeline that would threaten BC’s coast with oil spills and facilitate a massive increase in climate pollution from the tarsands. 1, 2, 3
Kinder Morgan just started talks with the CPP Investment Board, and if they sign on, your CPP contributions could end up funding a dirty tarsands pipeline.4
But the CPP Investment Board’s “sustainable investing” policy specifically cites climate change as a factor the board considers when choosing where to invest your CPP contributions. 5
Supporting the Kinder Morgan project is at odds with the CPP Investment Board’s own investment policy, and if thousands of us sign an emergency petition, we can convince them to pull out of talks with Kinder Morgan.
Kinder Morgan is trying to close a deal with the CPP Investment Board quickly, so we need to act now.
Sign the urgent petition demanding that the CPP Investment Board to refuse to invest your CPP contributions in Kinder Morgan’s risky pipeline?
