Trudeau and Joly: Support South Africa’s campaign at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to end the genocide in Gaza

2,730 actions
goal: 4,000
On Thursday, January 11th, Israel appeared before the international court over its actions in Gaza.

South Africa filed an 84-page brief to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), arguing that Israel’s military operations in Gaza "are genocidal in character because they are intended to bring about the destruction of a substantial part" of the Palestinian population.1

As a signatory to the Genocide Convention, drafted after the Holocaust and Second World War, Canada has an obligation to uphold international law and specifically preventing genocide from occurring.2  Supporting South Africa’s application at the ICJ brings us one step closer to a ceasefire and could stop a potential genocide in its tracks.
