Last week, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre insinuated that he would flip a kill switch on the Constitution if it stood in the way of his agenda. And days later, he was kicked out of the House of Commons for “unparliamentary behaviour.”

It’s divisive strongarming reminiscent of the Harper years — except that Poilievre seems intent on raising the stakes to terrifying new heights. The Constitution protects our rights and freedoms as Canadians. And if it were to be suspended, it would set a chilling new precedent for politicians to run roughshod over our rights the minute it suited their agenda.

It’s no exaggeration to say our democracy is on the line in this election. That’s why the Leadnow community is getting ready to throw down everything we have to keep Poilievre and his Conservatives from coming to power.
