This summer Environment Minister Guilbeault dropped a major report, signalling that the government is moving to cap polluting gas emissions.1 If done right — this could be a game-changer.

Climate change caused by polluting gas emissions means right now we’re facing more extreme weather, like scorching heatwaves, floods, and fires close to home and around the world. And we aren't all feeling it equally — racialized, poor communities are disproportionately impacted.

To do our fair share to tackle the climate threats we’re facing — scientists say we must slash emissions by at least 60% from 2005 levels by 2030.2

But emissions keep rising in Canada because of the vast amount of oil and gas that is being extracted — more than at any point in history.3 A strong emissions cap is a critical policy tool to get us to the liveable, safe future that we deserve.

Sign the petition for an ambitious, strong, and urgent cap on emissions now.

Prime Minister Trudeau, Minister Freeland, Minister Wilkinson and Minister Guilbeault:

Canadians are calling on you to implement an emissions cap that is ambitious, stringent, and implemented as soon as possible. This is your chance to make history — the time for bold climate action is here.
