Announcement: Executive Director Lyndsay Poaps departing Leadnow

Leadnow Executive Director Departure Announcement

At the end of this year, Lyndsay Poaps will hand over the reins after nearly four years of leadership as Leadnow’s second Executive Director. Lyndsay stepped into the role in an important moment of transition for the independent advocacy organization, as it matured from its start-up to its growth phase.

Taking over from the founding Executive Director, Lyndsay shepherded Leadnow through the 2015 federal election, the BC election and Ontario elections, and important campaigns on electoral reform, the Trans Mountain pipeline, and NAFTA.

“My time at Leadnow has affirmed my belief in grassroots engagement to defend our democracy. Leadnow marries innovative technologies and large-scale citizen participation to amplify the voices of everyday people across Canada seeking change and justice from our political leaders. It has been a privilege to come to work every day and strive to make our country more just, sustainable and equitable, and I am so excited to see what this vital organization does next,” said Lyndsay.

Leadnow Board Chair, Marie-Marguerite Sabongui said: “Lyndsay carried us through many critical changes, redefining our vision and values, building a strong financial and fundraising system, rebuilding an effective organisational structure, expanding into provincial campaigning, and negotiating a collective bargaining agreement with the staff which ensured fairness and transparency. We’re in a significantly stronger position now then when she came in, and we’re grateful for her work.”

All of us at Leadnow are grateful for Lyndsay’s leadership and wish her the best of luck as she goes on to create change in her future endeavours.

Leadnow will be hiring for a new Executive Director to inherit this organisation’s solid financial footing, strong reputation, and talented staff team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the power of movements to create change, strong organizational management and fundraising skills, and an exciting vision for Leadnow’s next stage of growth as a powerful progressive force in Canada.
