Canada is on the brink of a possible trade war – instigated solely by Donald Trump

If Trump’s tariffs come to fruition, the devastation will be immediate. This is going to hurt workers, families and communities across both borders. We will see job losses, and rising prices piled on top of an already worsening cost of living crisis. 

Will you sign now demand that all federal party leaders and your premier put workers first and protect our communities?

Here is the petition text:

As the US president considers an economic attack on Canada, we are all bracing for this unprecedented shift in North America. As workers, community members, students, parents and more, we are deeply concerned about how this will impact our lives and livelihoods. We are ready to stand by each other. We ask that you do the same.

We are demanding that you put everyday people across Canada above party politics and ensure that workers and communities are protected. We are asking that you all work together to:

• Protect workers who will be directly affected by the tariffs with immediate support for impacted workers through financial assistance, job protection measures, and transition programs instead of business bailouts,
• Ensure those who could be indirectly affected by rising prices and rising unemployment are provided with sufficient support, especially those most vulnerable such as seniors and individuals on disability and income support,
• Make sure that strong climate action is at the center of policy decisions — there is no trade on a dying planet,
• Invest in strong public services and programs to mitigate harm and ensure people are cared for,
• Prevent corporate profiteering — stop mega-corporations from using the crisis of this trade war to hike prices, as happened during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our response is a chance to reshape the path forward — where people and the planet are above profit and no one is left behind.
