Prime Minister Mark Carney ran a campaign on leading Canada through Trump’s tariffs and attacks on sovereignty, and a cost-of-living crisis. Instead, his first piece of legislation, Bill C-2, is an attack on migrants and privacy rights straight out of the Trump playbook.
Bill C-2 drastically restricts refugee protection, allows for mass deportations, and gives security officials unchecked power to access everyone’s data.

The “Strong Borders Act” (Bill C-2) threatens the rights of everyone in Canada and will weaken our social fabric and economy.
It gives unchecked power for the government to cancel permits en masse, restrict the already difficult process of applying for asylum, and unprecedented ability to access personal information for all Canadians.
We, the undersigned, call on you to reject the anti-refugee and anti-immigrant Bill C-2 that put’s people’s human rights at risk.
