Carney: no subsidies and no new fossil fuel infrastructure
Pierre Poilievre hasn’t been shy about his plans to adopt Trump’s “Drill, Baby, Drill” strategy that is rolling back decades of work on climate action south of the border. Carney still has a chance to step up as a climate champion — we can’t let him lose sight of the existential threat we are up against.
We are calling on him to embrace bold climate leadership and champion investments in a green, clean economy, which includes no subsidies for oil and gas and no new fossil fuel infrastructure.
Dear Prime Minister Carney:
Canada is at a crossroads. As the effects of climate change intensify—wildfires, floods, rising costs from extreme weather—our next government will shape our response for decades. Canada is making progress and with the right leadership it can continue—investing in clean energy jobs, diversifying our economy, helping Canadians and companies to do their part and ensuring a liveable future.
We can’t afford to be left behind. We are calling on you to stop all subsidies for the oil and gas industry and no new fossil fuel infrastructure. We urge the Liberal party to embrace climate action and investments in a green economy that will create thousands of good jobs.
