Defend International Law: Tell Canada to Denounce Trump’s Actions

Trump has attacked Caracas and kidnapped Nicolás Maduro, the president of Venezuela.
Attacking another country and kidnapping its leader is illegal. Yet the Canadian government’s response has been lacklustre at best.
History teaches us that silence in the face of authoritarian threats ends in tragedy and will only put us all in more danger. Prime Minister Mark Carney & Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand must stop cowering to Trump and denounce his aggression against Venezuela, Greenland, Mexico, and Colombia.

Here is the petition text:
We, the undersigned, are shocked and outraged by Trump’s illegal strikes on Venezuela and the kidnapping of its head of state.
It is unmistakable – these actions are an act of illegal imperial aggression. Experts are calling this a clear violation of international law and a dangerous precedent for the international community. Trump is peddling lies about “narcoterrorists” but we know the truth: this is an empire attacking a sovereign nation to enrich itself.
It is high time that Canada holds Trump accountable. If the U.S. gets away with violating Venezuela’s sovereignty, what is stopping it from moving on to Greenland, Mexico, Columbia, or to Canada to acquire its “51st State”?
Canada cannot be complicit in normalizing rampant U.S. aggression and violations of sovereignty. We demand that the government condemn Trump’s aggression and violations of international law, and uphold the international principles of sovereignty and respect for the peoples of the world.
