Send a message now to ask Senate to support the Vote16 Act now!

16-year olds can enroll in the Armed Forces, drive a car, provide sexual consent and can be tried as an adult in court. But they can't vote.

Which is why there is a growing movement building – led by groups like Vote16 Canada – to lower the voting age and give 16 and 17 year olds the right to vote.

Any day now the Senate will vote on Bill S-201 – the Vote16 Act – that will see an amendment to the Elections Act to lower the age of voting in Canada.

While the Vote16 Act goes through the Senate we have a plan to email Senators asking them to support the Vote16 Act. Join us now to call on Senators to support the Vote16 act and lower the voting age now.
  • Tips to make your email more effective:
    • Customized emails have a much higher impact. Go through the template email and put the message in your own words.
    • Include a personalized message about why this is important to you. If you are an adult ally, consider writing about a young person who you know who deserves the right to vote.
