Toronto is in the midst of a housing crisis. But instead of creating affordable homes, Canada Lands Company (CLC) is selling off publicly-owned land for luxury condos [1]. Land that should be used for the public good is being used to benefit ultra-rich developers.

It’s not too late for CLC to require that any new development on the land includes homes that everyday Torontonians can afford -- but the land could be sold any day, so we need to act fast.

As a Crown corporation, Canada Lands Company is ultimately accountable to all of us. And right now, housing advocates and city councillors are speaking out, so the controversial sale is in the spotlight. A huge push of people power at this crucial moment could be enough to convince CLC to hit pause -- and ensure the land is used for public good.

Will you enter your details to tell CLC that any redevelopment must include affordable homes?

Canada Lands Company:

Everyday Torontians need homes they can afford. The land for sale at 200 Queens Quay West must include affordable housing -- we can’t afford to sell off all our public land to luxury condo developers.
