Earlier this month, Parliament returned for one of its last sessions before the next federal election — and I'm writing to urge you to use this opportunity to finally deliver the first draft of your long-promised Emissions Cap.

With every day that passes without an Emissions Cap in Canada, the fossil fuel industry’s emissions continue to grow — as do their lobbying efforts to block climate policies like this one.

Last year at COP 28, the federal government announced the framework for their Emissions Cap policy and promised that a first draft would follow in a timely manner. But countless delays later and against the backdrop of a looming election, your government is running out of time to deliver.

As an elected representative, you have a duty to represent your constituents’ interests over those of Big Oil. That’s why I urge you to push for the Federal Government to release an ambitious Emissions Cap policy that reins in Big Oil’s pollution, without any further delay.
